The Nepal Forest Fire Management Chapter (NFMC) has entered into a collaboration agreement with Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (UGOE), Germany, as part of the TRANSMIT: Transboundary Approaches to Sustainable Forest Management for Enhancing Climate Resilience and Reducing Disaster Risk in the Himalayas research initiative.

Project Location:
The Mahakali (Sharda) River Basin across western Nepal and northwestern India
Project Objectives:
- Strengthen transboundary cooperation on sustainable forest management.
- Improve climate resilience in the Himalayan region.

- Support research, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among regional partners.
The project will run from 1 January 2026 through 31 December 2028.
Purpose of the Collaboration
The TRANSMIT project focuses on developing transboundary approaches to sustainable forest management across the Himalayas. The collaboration aims to:
